...Thirteen Days Forth And Thirteen Back...

We wanted to concentrate more on certain feeling to which sound sound can bring us. We wanted to create movies or pictures in our heads, wheter is it pleasent or not”, says uzrujan press material.music of three member band uzrujan from zagreb (croatia), on first listening may sound…….abstract, but it is not the case. Only the pictures in their heads, while they play, are abstract. And they play it with two guitars, bass, drum, various percussions, electronical components, all with violine and saxophone parts….or, “with everything that can create sound”, like they say.so, we are talking about pretty concrete instrumentario which is also there for pretty concrete sound. Even, aggressive, because of sound picture which looks you straight in to your face.record conception goes from atmospherical, repetative, on moments deconstructive (not noisy) parts, towards more or less intentional rhytmical. But, with no circiling or mechanical changes of mentioned actions, just with actions smoothly dividing in to many directions, in to collision of rhytmical and arythmical. Uzrujan have a spine, most oftenly in shape of (compressed or not) drum beat, which is not the point, then just a fragment of complete sound picture. A picture which is made of complex, silent-loud-whispering sounds with whome is hard to do something else but to listen! Also, saxophone and guitar free rides are not the exception here.there is just one song on this record, lasts 48:00 minutes and is diverged into parts which are just located by geographical coordinates. Engeniers responsible for uzrujan are also active in some more multi styled croatian bands; rujan, peach pit, random, sibir.speaking about references, that would be brise glace, storm and stress, maybe tortoise, all with influences of so-called post-rock , and there has surely been uzrujan live acts with Storm and Stress, Chris Cutler, The Flying Luttenbachers. Anyway, no reference is good enough to illustrate uzrujan sound completely. Uzrujan are …just a piece of continuum.
